This quote is from the book Crocodile Tears by Anthony Horowitz. It is a book in the Alex Rider series. This quote comes from a place in the book after the evil guy explains how his upbringing was hard, how he experienced racism, and how that shaped his need/want for power. What do you think of this quote?
“He was sitting in the open air, in Africa! And yet he couldn’t enjoy his surroundings. He was sitting at a table with a madman. He knew it all too well. McCain might have suffered hardships in his life, but what had happened to him had nothing to do with his background or his color; they were convenient excuses now. He had been a psychopath from the start.”
I think it may be considered “racist” because it is denying the fact that there is racial prejudice against Black people. But is “racist” the right word? Let me know.
